Bizarre Madoff motion appears to be a forgery; judge denies request
A bizarre motion purportedly signed by convicted Ponzi schemer Bernard Madoff claims the federal government used “bio-electric sensors” and “voice-to-skull technology” to influence the court in the case.
Judge Denny Chin of the New York-based 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied the request to dismiss the criminal charges, report Reuters, the New York Post and Bloomberg News. Though the motion bears Madoff’s signature, the handwriting does not match.
Chin continues to handle the case after his elevation to the appeals court.
The motion was also signed by “legal asst” Frederick Banks, a federal inmate who has filed at least 304 lawsuits, Bloomberg says. Many of those suits complain about the voice-to-skull technology.
Madoff’s former lawyer, Ira Sorkin, told Bloomberg he receives occasional emails from Madoff and the motion doesn’t sound like him. “As far as I know he’s of sound mind,” Sorkin said.
