Bush Pardons 29, But Not Libby

President Bush issued 29 pardons today, but I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby wasn’t among them.

Among those pardoned were convicted thieves, drug dealers and a moonshiner, the Associated Press reports. Since taking office, Bush has issued 142 pardons and commuted five sentences.

In July, Bush commuted Libby’s 30-month sentence for lying and obstructing an investigation into the leaked identity of CIA officer Valerie Plame. Libby recently dropped his appeal because he can no longer afford it.

ALSO NOT PARDONED are two Border Patrol agents Ramos and Compean who are sitting in solitary confinement for shooting an illegal alien drug smuggler. The idiotic prosecutor gave the smuggler full immunity to testify against the agents—any wonder what he was going to say? The jury never heard that the smuggler was, in fact, a drug smuggler. The prosecutor held on to exculpatory evidence. The agents were convicted on assault charges and were given more than a decade apiece. The smuggler is now suing the Border Patrol for millions. OF COURSE, he was just re-arrested for smuggling again.

The court transcript—now 2 years old—has not been released. And while Bush is pardoning druggies, these guys are sitting in solitary.

Bush is too scared that Mexico and the rest of the open-border crowd will go crazy, making his dream of an North American Union more difficult to achieve.
