The wife of actor and comedian Bill Murray has filed for divorce, contending that the former Saturday Night Live mainstay has physically abused her, has had affairs, is addicted to alcohol and marijuana and has abandoned her.

A premarital agreement attached to her South Carolina filing provides for a $7 million post-divorce payment to Jennifer Butler Murray, who has been married to the Caddyshack, Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day star for more than a decade, reports the Associated Press. A copy of the divorce filing (PDF) is provided by the New York Post.

However, Jennifer Murray “seeks a restraining order barring Bill Murray from her Sullivan’s Island home and asks the court to determine if the couple’s premarital agreement is valid and enforceable,” reports the Post and Courier.

The two have four children, and their welfare is important to both parents, John McDougall, a lawyer for Bill Murray, tells AP. He declined to respond to Jennifer Murray’s allegations, but says his client “is deeply saddened by the breakup of his marriage.”
