Chicago, Howard Are ‘Best Buy’ Feeder Law Schools to Nation’s Top Law Firms
The law schools at the University of Chicago and Howard University top a list of the nation’s “best buy” law schools that send the highest percentage of graduates to the nation’s top law firms for the lowest tuition cost.
The University of Chicago Law School sent nearly 59 percent of its graduates last year to the nation’s top 250 law firms, putting it in first place on a list of feeder law schools, the National Law Journal reported earlier this week. Now in a separate article, the NLJ is adding tuition charges for nonresident students to the mix.
Law school tuition at the University of Chicago in 2010 was $44,757, making it the 18th cheapest law school out of 50 go-to schools. At Howard, 2010 law school tuition was $24,490, making it the third-cheapest school. About 15 percent of Howard’s 2010 graduates got jobs with top law firms.
Other schools that did well in the NLJ’s best-buy analysis were Boston College Law School and the College of William and Mary Marshall-Wythe School of Law.
