Chief Pa. Supreme Court Judge Sues Law Firm for Malpractice re Family Court Building Project
The chief judge of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has sued a prominent Philadelphia law firm and a former lawyer there for malpractice, contending that the state paid millions more than it should have for a family court building project.
A central issue in the case brought by Chief Justice Ronald D. Castille, acting as trustee for the court system, is whether attorney Jeffrey B. Rotwitt and his former firm, Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel, properly disclosed the lawyer’s profitable position as a co-developer in the deal, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports in a lengthy article about the dispute.
Rotwitt says he did, disclosing both orally and in writing his dual role in the $150 million to $200 million construction project at 15th and Arch streets.
