Choosy Job Ad Offers Associate the Top Desk Drawer and $28K

Is a frustrated job-hunting lawyer venting with a fake employment ad in Craiglist?

Apparently so, according to Above the Law. The ad seeking an “ASSociate Attorney” says the new hire must be willing to make coffee, every hour on the hour, and to work 14-hour days, with the exception Fridays, when 13½ hours at the office is sufficient.

“Must be willing to share a desk with a paralegal,” the ad advises. “She said you can have the top drawer.”

The pay is $28,000 a year, with a $10,000 bonus for billing more than 2,500 hours in a year. Only law graduates from top schools or with top grades need apply. A federal clerkship and law review experience is also a must.

The “small, congenial law firm” also wants its new hire to be a team player.

“We ASSume this is a joke,” Above the Law writes.
