City of Boston Claims Lawyer Mocked Labor Negotiators with Fake Lisp, 'Blah, Blah, Blah' Response
The city of Boston is fed up with a prominent lawyer representing firefighters in contract negotiations.
A letter dispatched to the Massachusetts Division of Labor Relations claims lawyer E. David Wanger was vulgar and vitriolic at a meeting on Tuesday, the Boston Globe reports.
According to the allegations, Wanger mocked city officials with a fake lisp, used obscenities, and repeatedly interrupted their conversation with the words “Blah! Blah! Blah!” The letter says city officials won’t meet any more with Wanger or firefighters unless a mediator is appointed.
Union president Richard Paris told the Globe that city lawyers were equally difficult. “The city was doing the same thing to us,” he said. “It was not a kissing game in there, that’s for sure. But Dave Wanger is trying to do the right thing. … He looks out for the health and welfare and well-being of firefighters.”
Wanger did not respond to the newspaper’s request for comment.
