Client's Plea in Capital Case Puts Fla. Lawyer Back on Track to Compete in Hemingway Contest

A Florida criminal defense lawyer made headlines a few weeks ago after a federal judge nixed his motion seeking permission to take time off during a client’s capital murder trial to attend an Ernest Hemingway lookalike contest.
But Frank Louderback is back on track to compete in the annual contest at Sloppy Joe’s Bar in Key West later this month, because his client took a plea Monday as his murder-for-hire trial was about to begin, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
“All is well in the world,” Louderback told the newspaper.
A Tampa Tribune article gives more details about the guilty plea Monday by Jerry Alan Bottorff, 42, and his 33-year-old wife. The two were accused of arranging to have her then-husband, Thomas Sehorne, killed five years ago, in exchange for a $60,000 payout from his $1 million in life insurance.
They have not yet been sentenced.
