A homeless woman who reportedly has been living for more than a year in the closet of a stranger's home was arrested in Japan yesterday.

The unnamed 58-year-old woman apparently entered the home through an unlocked door, and was eventually discovered after the male resident—who thought he was living there alone—noticed food had been disappearing and installed security cameras to try to solve the mystery, reports the Associated Press.

Police conducting a top-to-bottom search of the locked home, in response to a security system alert, eventually found the woman hiding curled up in an upper shelf, the news agency reports. "She had moved a mattress into the small closet space and apparently even took showers."
