A coin flip has determined the name of the law firm created by the merger of St. Louis-based Husch & Eppenberger LLC and Kansas City-based Blackwell Sanders.

The new firm will be named Husch Blackwell Sanders, said co-chairman Joseph P. Conran, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. "The firm name was decided by the flip of a coin because we felt that in a true merger of equals, this was the most fair way to determine the new name," he said.

The merger, approved last month, makes the new 630-lawyer firm the second largest in Missouri. No. 1 is Bryan Cave. The final details of the merger are expected to be finished in late January or early February, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.
