When constitutional law scholar Ron Rotunda and his wife departed George Mason University School of Law last year for new jobs at Chapman University School of Law in California they were “pleased to be leaving,” he told the local Washington, D.C., area legal community in an e-mail.

Now his wife, Kyndra Rotunda, is pursuing a sexual harassment claim she filed against George Mason in July, reports the National Law Journal. She had worked for three years as the director of a law school legal assistance clinic for members of the military and had previously herself worked as a military lawyer.

Her suit, which was filed in the Eastern District of Virginia and survived a motion to dismiss last month, contends that she had to find another job after she turned down sexual advances by the clinic’s executive director. George Mason, she alleges, “knowingly” tolerated his behavior when she complained.

In addition to George Mason, whose lawyer declined comment, the clinic’s executive director and the law school dean also were named as defendants in the suit, the legal publication reports. They declined comment. In court filings, all three defendants have denied doing anything wrong.

The lead lawyer for George Mason is Jeffrey Huvelle of Covington & Burling.

Kyndra Rotunda is represented by Washington, D.C., practitioner Richard Seymour.
