Silver gavels

University of California at Irvine law dean Erwin Chemerinsky is pitted against his mentor and one-time constitutional law professor, Harvard Law School’s Laurence Tribe, in the books category of the 2015 ABA Silver Gavel Awards for Media and Arts.

The ABA announced 14 finalists on Wednesday for its Silver Gavel Awards, which recognize outstanding work that fosters understanding of law and the legal system, according to a press release. The winners will be announced on May 13.

Chemerinsky is nominated for his book The Case Against the Supreme Court, while Tribe is nominated for Uncertain Justice: The Roberts Court and the Constitution, a book Tribe co-wrote with Joshua Matz, a law clerk for Justice Anthony M. Kennedy.

The third finalist in the books category is journalist Nell Bernstein, author of Burning Down the House: The End of Juvenile Prison.
