Consumer Group Plans iPhone Lawsuit

A Greenpeace report that contends Apple’s iPhone contains toxic chemicals has spurred a consumer group to initiate legal proceedings.

The Center for Environmental Health has filed a notice of an intent to file a lawsuit that contends the chemicals violate California laws, Associated Content reports. The group says in a press release that California’s Proposition 65 requires products that contain toxins to carry warning labels.

Greenpeace dismantled and tested the phone. The group says it found brominated compounds indicating the presence of hazardous flame retardants on the internal antenna and hazardous plastic PVC coating on the headphone cables.
