In the latest blow to a controversial ex-judge who has been permanently banned from the Las Vegas bench in part because of her treatment of her staff, a former legal assistant to Elizabeth Halverson has won a libel suit that Halverson apparently made little effort to defend.
District Judge David Wall last week granted a summary judgment motion by plaintiff Ileen Spoor and dismissed Halverson's counterclaim, reports the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Damages will be determined at a later date.
The Nevada newspaper's attempts to contact Halverson for comment were unsuccessful.

Bad things come in threes, some say. Cast off the bench, beaned with a frying pan, and now, tagged by a former staffer for libel. I hope she does not have a “bad hair day” on top of it all.
