Add another pair of peregrine falcons to the courthouse nesting trend.

A couple of the rare birds recently set up a new home on a fifth-floor ledge outside the Dubuque County Courthouse in Dubuque, Iowa, reports the Telegraph Herald.

Unfortunately, two eggs that were laid rolled off over the weekend as high winds blew. However, local officials hope the birds will try again, in a new nesting box with raised edges installed this week by courthouse maintenance workers.

“We had to wangle a ladder out the windows to put it on the ledge,” said executive director Brian Preston of the Dubuque County Conservation Board, who also participated in the effort. “I hope they come back to it.”
