Wall Street Journal’s Law Blog reports that white-shoe firm Cravath Swaine & Moore “has decided to scuff up its oxfords a bit” with the addition of a bankruptcy practice.

Richard Levin, one of the principal authors of the Bankruptcy Code, will join the firm in July to establish the practice.

Chapter 11 filings are low right now, but many law firms are adding bankruptcy lawyers in anticipation of change, the blog reports.

The move also represents a rare poaching by Cravath of a lateral partner from another firm, in this case Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
