Merger

Crowell & Moring is reportedly in merger talks with New York-based Herrick Feinstein, a law firm with about 132 lawyers known for its work handling real estate, sports and art law matters.

Anonymous sources told the Real Deal and the Am Law Daily (sub. req.) about the merger discussions. If the talks result in a merger, the combined firm would have about 570 lawyers and $478 million in gross revenue, according to the Am Law Daily.

Sources told the Real Deal that the two law firms are in late-stage negotiations and the firms are drafting a letter of intent. One source told the Am Law Daily, however, that the talks are still preliminary and no deal would likely be announced before 2017.

The publications were unable to reach a Crowell representative for comment, while a Herrick spokesman declined to comment.

According to the Am Law Daily, Crowell “has been on the hunt for years to merge with a New York firm.” Herrrick “has often been approached for a merger but had held off,” according to the article.
