DA raids dissolving law firm
A California law firm that is reportedly dissolving following attorney defections now has a new problem to contend with.
Investigators from the Orange County District Attorney’s office visited Lackie, Dammeier, McGill & Ethir last week and removed boxes of documents from the Upland firm, pursuant to a search warrant, the San Bernardino County Sentinel reports.
The Voice of OC reports that the search warrant also included the home of one of the firm’s partners.
Officials declined to say why the raid took place, and law firm partners declined to comment when contacted by the publications.
The firm specializes in representing police officers and police unions. It has been accused in a lawsuit and news accounts of bullying civic leaders. The Peace Officers Research Association of California removed the firm from its list of approved Legal Defense Fund lawyers, citing questionable billing practices.
