A New Jersey dad who lost custody of his children appeared in court in a Nazi uniform on Monday in a bid to obtain visitation rights with his 2-year-old son.

Heath Campbell said his son, Hons, was taken by the state when he was only 16 hours old, NBC10 Philadelphia reports. The father claims he lost custody of three older children because he gave them Nazi-inspired names; the state says there was previous violence in the home.

Heath Campbell was in the news in December 2008 when a supermarket refused to write his son’s name—Adolf Hitler Campbell—on a birthday cake.

NBC 10 Philadelphia asked Campbell if wearing the Nazi uniform would help or hurt his case. “If they’re good judges and they’re good people, they’ll look within, not what’s on the outside,” he replied.
