An investigator for the Anderson County district attorney’s office was arrested Monday after allegedly pulling a gun on another employee at a Texas courthouse.

The incident occurred at about 10 a.m., reports the Palestine Herald-Press. Thomas Alan Douglas, 47, was taken into custody at his office around 10:45 a.m. and charged with deadly conduct.

Sheriff Greg Taylor said Douglas pointed his sidearm first at the woman, with whom he had recently had a romantic relationship, and then at himself. The gun reportedly was not fired. Douglas has been in law enforcement over 20 years, but had lost his job at the DA’s office before the day was over, according to the newspaper.

“We’re hoping he can get the help he needs,” Taylor said.
