An in-house lawyer accused of stealing $9 million by paying fake law firm bills took a felony plea and was sentenced to 40 years by a Texas judge six months ago.

But that wasn’t the end of the fallout over Anthony Chiofalo’s theft scheme.

A onetime investigator for the Harris County District Attorney’s office is awaiting sentencing and his former partner there has been criminally charged concerning rare vintage comic books purchased by Chiofalo. The comics were being held by the DA’s office, along with sports memorabilia bought by Chiofalo, and allegedly were stolen by the two DA’s investigators in 2012, according to the Associated Press, the Daily Mail and the Houston Chronicle.

The FBI says Dustin Deutsch, 41, had the key to a storage unit that contained items purchased by Chiofalo and gave the comics to Lonnie Blevins, 39, to sell in Chicago. Blevins pleaded guilty in May to federal charges and awaits sentencing.

Deutsch was indicted by a grand jury Tuesday on charges of evidence tampering and theft by a public servant.
