DC Bar Suspends Lawyer for Failure to Disclose Prior Suspension
The District of Columbia Court of Appeals ordered a one-year suspension for a Maryland-based attorney Thursday for failure to disclose a prior suspension.
The prior suspension stemmed from a number of grievances filed from 2002 to 2003 against Michelle Davy with the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland alleging that she “failed to act with diligence,” among other charges, the Blog of Legal Times reports. At the time of the charges in Maryland, Davy submitted a letter of resignation to the District of Columbia Bar, but failed to report the grievances or subsequent suspension when she later reapplied for admission.
Once aware of the suspension, the District of Columbia Bar moved to institute reciprocal discipline, which the three-judge panel held would have been served concurrently with the initial suspension had Davy reported the charges at the time of her resignation.
