Despite Improving Economy, Brinks Hofer Axes 18
Only yesterday, Crain’s New York Business reported that the pace of law firm layoffs slowed down significantly last month.
But while the bloodletting of recent months and years may have slowed from a gush to a relative trickle, it hasn’t been totally shut off. This week, Chicago-based Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione axed seven lawyers, a patent agent and 10 staff members, reports Above the Law.
Gary Ropski, who is president of the intellectual property boutique, tells the tabloid legal blog that making cuts is the hardest part of his job. However, “we want to make sure the firm is well-positioned for 2011, with the right resources in the right places,” he says.
