Detective: Murder Suspect Said She Gave Lawyer Boyfriend the Nose Job He Wanted

A woman accused of killing her lawyer boyfriend told authorities she shot the man multiple times during a heated argument at his Kentucky condominium, according to testimony by a Kentucky police detective at a preliminary hearing on Thursday.

Judge Karen Thomas revoked bond for the suspect, Shayna Hubers, after testimony by Highland Heights Detective Bill Birkenhauer, reports. Hubers is accused of killing 29-year-old lawyer Ryan Poston, who had a solo practice in Cincinnati, on Oct. 12.

Birkenhauer testified that Hubers shot Poston in the head, then the face, then four more times to stop the twitching. “She said she gave him the nose job that he wanted,” Birkenhauer said. “She said he was vain.”

Hubers’ lawyer, Wil Zevely, has previously said his client acted in self-defense. “The only thing she did wrong was having bad taste in men,” he said.

Birkenhauer said Hubers told authorities that Poston had become verbally abusive during the argument and she shot him from across the kitchen table, the story reports. She made many statements about the location of the gun she used, Birkenhauer said, indicating that it was in Poston’s hand at one point, in a cabinet and on the kitchen table.

She also said that during the argument Poston had locked himself in the bedroom, where he kept another loaded gun, but she used a key to open the door, Birkenhauer testified.
