Dewey & LeBoeuf has sent an e-mail to its personnel advising them that they cannot bring spouses or dates to this year’s holiday party and they must find their own transportation home, the blog Above the Law reports.

The blog says banning spouses is “par for the course” at big New York law firms and focuses on Dewey’s refusal to provide transportation home from the four-hour, open-bar party. The blog tagged the post in the “cheapness” category.

One tipster complained that the no-rides-home decision was “quite ludicrous.”

“Aside from the potential liability issues this may raise, it seems ridiculous that a firm as big as Dewey would require everyone to find their own car rides home,” the tipster said.
