Dewey's Art to Be Auctioned; Original Value Put at $2.3M
The failed law firm Dewey & LeBoeuf will be auctioning off its art to help pay creditors.
The collection includes pieces by Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenberg and photographer Berenice Abbott, the Wall Street Journal Law Blog (sub. req.) reports.
The art work was originally valued at $2.3 million, but the auction could bring in less, according to Leigh Snitiker, manager of the Weschler’s Capital Collections Auction. “When you buy retail and sell at auction, the prices will be lower,” Snitiker told the Law Blog.
The main auction will be held on Feb. 1, though a “mini-auction” of lesser-value pieces will be held on Dec. 1.
