Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom tops a list of America’s best corporate law firms that is based on a survey of corporate directors.
Corporate Board Member and FTI Consulting surveyed almost 300 directors for the top 20 list. Skadden got the top spot for the ninth straight year, the publication says. Jones Day, ranked seventh last year, came in second.
Two new law firms on the top 20 list are Sidley Austin and Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson. They replace Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.
The top five:
1) Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, also ranked first last year.
2) Jones Day, ranked seventh last year.
3) Cravath Swaine & Moore, ranked second last year.
4) Wachtell Lipton Rosen & Katz, ranked third last year.
5) Sullivan & Cromwell, also ranked fifth last year.
Davis Polk & Wardwell, ranked fourth last year, dropped to No. 13 in the new survey.

Jones Day, from 7th to 2nd, is the real story here, and that would be the firm to watch. (Especially if you’re Skadden).
