Suspended Lawyer Who Allegedly Kept Practicing and Forged Court Docs Is Jailed for Contempt
A former Alabama lawyer is being held in a Georgia jail because he allegedly kept on practicing after having his license suspended in both states, forging court documents and misleading clients while doing so.
Superior Court Judge Bobby Peters ordered Elliott Vogt held without bond in Muscogee County Jail for criminal contempt, according to the Ledger-Enquirer and the Associated Press.
“You are an officer of the court and it is my responsibility to protect the integrity of the court,” the judge told Vogt, as the Ledger-Enquirer article recounts. “There is no telling how many people that hired you believe they are now divorced or their case was filed and completed when in fact it was not.”
Vogt, who is a 2003 law graduate of the University of Alabama, has now reportedly been disbarred in Alabama.
