Disney's top lawyer is best-paid general counsel
The top-paid general counsel works for the Walt Disney Co. and made about $7 million in total cash compensation last year.
The lawyer is Alan Braverman, who received a pay boost from about $6.7 million in 2014, Corporate Counsel (sub. req.) reports. Its story is based on 2015 proxy filings reviewed by ALM Legal Intelligence.
The top five for total cash compensation are:
1) Alan Braverman of Walt Disney ($7,034,692 )
2) Thomas Mason of Energy Transfer Equity ($6,857,615)
3) Gerson Zweifach of 21st Century Fox ($6,325,000)
4) Laureen Seeger of American Express ($5,298,200)
5) Bruce Sewell of Apple ($5,000,000)
Total cash compensation includes salary, bonuses and nonequity compensation (which the article defines as “a bonus for a reason”).
Despite the big paychecks, the overall total cash compensation for the top 100 general counsel declined nearly 2 percent in 2015.
