A California divorce court may have to decide who owns the Los Angeles Dodgers, following a separation announcement yesterday by the baseball team's husband-and-wife co-owners, Frank and Jamie McCourt.

Although Frank McCourt is officially listed as the franchisor and Major League Baseball "control person," attorney Dennis Wasser, who represents his wife, says a state court should determine that the team is community property and divide it 50-50, reports the Los Angeles Times.

"I firmly believe each of them is going to try to keep the team," an unidentified "high-ranking baseball source" tells the newspaper. "I think it's going to be pretty ugly."
