DLA Piper has announced it is opening an office in Istanbul through a partnership arrangement with six Turkish lawyers.

Fifty-six percent of DLA Piper’s top 100 clients have operations in Turkey, according to the National Law Journal. Those clients include the Boeing Co., Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., and Bayer Corp. Today’s Zaman also has the story.

The NLJ quotes Andrew Darwin, managing director of Europe for DLA Piper, who was in Istanbul. “There’s a lot of work here,” he said. “It’s got a strong international client base.”

The office will open June 1 and will advise only on international and foreign law, according to a press release. The Istanbul Bar is allowing the six Turkish lawyers to become part of the DLA Piper partnership. The firm will have 68 offices in 30 countries when the newest office opens.
