A longtime psychologist at a government-run mental health facility in suburban Chicago has been criminally charged after allegedly persuading a 45-year-old female patient to have sex by telling her he could continue to keep her confined, there or elsewhere, if she did not comply.

Dr. Robert Eizinga, 66, is charged with official misconduct and sexual misconduct with a person with a disability, reports the Chicago Tribune.

He served as the Tinley Park Mental Health Center’s court liaison both to the state’s attorney’s office and to mental health attorneys at the Guardianship and Advocacy Commission.

The article doesn’t include any comment from Eizinga or his counsel. On Thursday, his bail was set at $150,000.

A CBS Chicago article provides additional details about the alleged crimes.
