Add another California lawyer to the list of tax practitioners being pursued by the feds for allegedly promoting illegal tax shelters.

Self-proclaimed “visionary tax attorney” Scott Waage of San Diego is being sued by the Department of Justice, along with his firm, the Strategic Law Group, reports the National Law Journal in an article reprinted in New York Lawyer (reg. req.).

A complaint filed in federal court in San Diego on Feb. 28 seeks an injunction barring further promotion of such tax shelters.

Waage did not respond to a request for comment by the NLJ.
