A 13-foot drug tunnel discovered this week led from the Mexican side of a border fence to a metered parking space in downtown Nogales, Ariz., authorities say.

There vehicles with holes cut in the bottom would park to accept marijuana deliveries from the 10-inch-wide tunnel opening, according to the Associated Press and KVOA.

“It was pretty brazen,” says Vincent Picard, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman. “Right in the middle of downtown Nogales.”

The tunnel was reportedly discovered after agents saw a cylindrical bundle drop from a van that was allegedly laden with over 2,000 pounds of marijuana. The bundle appeared likely to have come from a drug tunnel, and a search then revealed the parking space opening.
