DWI Defendant Goes to Jail After Posting ‘Drunk in Florida’ Facebook Photo
A 17-year-old DWI defendant’s Facebook photo labeled “drunk in Florida” may be the reason she was sentenced to six months in jail for a crash that killed her boyfriend.
Ashley Sullivan went to Florida a month after the May 30 crash, then posted the Facebook photo chronicling her time there, the Buffalo News reports. Judge Matthew Murphy III of Niagara County told Sullivan on Wednesday that he was troubled by her conduct after the crash, and that’s the reason for the jail sentence.
After Sullivan serves her sentence, she will be on probation for five years. Sullivan emphasized she won’t be allowed to drink during that period. She was sentenced after pleading guilty to criminally negligent homicide and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.
