Dykema has hired a former partner of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice to head both a new office in Charlotte, N.C., and the firm’s financial services regulatory and compliance practice.

Donald Lampe, 54, is presently practicing in Washington, D.C., with another former Womble lawyer, Elizabeth Collins. However, they will move to Charlotte as soon as the firm’s new office at the Bank of America Corporate Center is ready, reports the Charlotte Observer.

Lampe tells the newspaper that Dykema expects to hire more lawyers for its Charlotte office and likely will have half a dozen attorneys there by the end of the year.

The Charlotte office will be the first in the Southeast for the 400-attorney firm, which presently has five offices in Michigan and two in Illinois, as well as offices in Los Angeles; Washington, D.C.; and Dallas, Texas.
