Updated: Tomorrow, 15 years after they bought the rings, Kevin Voecks, 51, and Paul Waters, 53, plan to be married in California.

It is expected to be the first day that same-sex couples can marry there, following a historic California Supreme Court ruling that they have a state constitutional right to do so. And so it seemed the right day for the two men to wed, when their marriage can be part of history, reports the Los Angeles Times.

“Kevin’s a 10,” says Paul Waters’ mother, Peggy, who is 80. “All the women Paul brought home, I never liked. This is still a dream come true.”
