The lawyer for ex-Enron CEO Jeffrey Skilling told lawyers at an ABA meeting Thursday that new, voluntary trial rules are needed to overcome bias in the handling of witnesses.

Daniel Petrocelli suggested that defendants who forgo a unanimous verdict be given access to all the government’s witnesses, the San Antonio Express-News reports.

Petrocelli spoke at a meeting (PDF) of the ABA Litigation Section in San Antonio.
