Ethics Complaint Seeks Six-Month Suspension for Sexting DA, Alleges 'Offensive Personality'
An ethics complaint seeks a six-month suspension for a former Wisconsin district attorney who resigned last year after his sext messages to a domestic abuse victim became public.
The complaint filed against former Calumet County District Attorney Kenneth Kratz accuses him of sexual harassment, conflict of interest and having an “offensive personality,” the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Kratz is currently handling criminal cases as a defense lawyer, the Associated Press reports.
Press reports last year detailed the sexually suggestive text messages that Kratz sent the domestic abuse victim. One of them read: “Are you the kind of girl that likes secret contact with an older married elected DA … the riskier the better?” Another tried to convince the woman that he was something of a catch. “I’m the attorney,” the message read. “I have the $350,000 house. I have the six-figure career. You may be the tall, young, hot nymph, but I am the prize.”
According to the Associated Press, the ethics complaint by the Office of Attorney Regulation also alleges Kratz made sexual remarks to two social workers and a woman seeking a pardon for a drug conviction. The complaint also claims Kratz engaged in offensive behavior and harassment when he had sex in 2009 with a woman he had previously prosecuted for theft.
