After winning an $8.8 million jury verdict against his former law firm earlier this year, an ex-lawyer of Baron & Budd has settled the suit.

Plaintiff Gary Cruciani and defendants Baron & Budd and Russell Budd have concluded the contentious litigation with an agreed motion for a new trial, which was accepted by the judge in the Dallas County case, followed by a confidential settlement less than a half-hour later, Texas Lawyer reports.

Cruciani, who left his position as an equity partner of McKool Smith to accept the Baron & Budd job and now works as a nonequity partner at McKool Smith, contended in the suit that Baron & Budd made “numerous misrepresentations” to persuade him to leave McKool Smith and take a job that did not actually offer the promised potential.
