A lawyer who says he changed his outlook on life after the death of his wife was arrested Monday during an Occupy demonstration in Southern California.

Frank Chimienti, 41, was arrested after lying down in the middle of the road during an Occupy demonstration at the Port of Hueneme, according to the Los Angeles Times blog L.A. Now.

Chimienti told the blog he was making $180,000 as a third-year associate securitizing mortgages when the death of his wife and the bad economy made him almost a completely different person. As a Buddhist, he believes that nonviolent protest can raise awareness of social injustice.

He currently has his own real estate practice. He says he was arrested shortly before 11 a.m., but he was soon released and able to make a court appearance at 1:30 p.m.
