Convicted in 2006 of stealing more up to $1 million or more in client settlement money, a now-disbarred personal injury attorney tells a Pennsylvania judge he can’t survive on $1,700 a month in social security and needs to move to find work.

Mark David Frankel, 62, says his home is in foreclosure and is scheduled to go on the block at a sheriff’s sale in February, reports the York Dispatch.

“It isn’t possible for me to find employment anywhere in this area, especially Pennsylvania,” he told Senior Common Pleas Judge Joseph Kleinfelter. “I am a pariah in the community and I can’t support myself. … I’m not wanted in York.”

The judge’s permission is required because Frankel is on probation. He appeared open to the idea of Frankel’s traveling to Florida or another state to find work, according to the article, but said it is “ridiculous” that the ex-attorney is paying only $100 a month toward required restitution of nearly $400,000 or more.
