Ex-Employee Suit Accuses Shaq & Cop Pals of Computer Hack to Get Revenge for Divorce Testimony
A former employee of Shaquille O’Neal has accused the basketball legend and law enforcement buff of hacking into his computer—with the help of South Florida and Arizona police pals—in an effort to get revenge for the ex-worker’s testimony in favor of O’Neal’s wife in a contentious divorce case.
Plaintiff Shawn Darling, a tech expert who worked for O’Neal from 2007 to 2009, asserts claims for civil racketeering, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress in his Miami-Dade Circuit Court amended complaint, reports the Sun-Sentinel.
O’Neal and his law enforcement friends tried to use Darling’s computer system to “frame” him, the complaint contends, “for possession of child pornography, have his house stormed by police, have him arrested for it, and have his computers confiscated while he is hauled off to jail as an accused child pornographer.”
The article doesn’t include any comment from O’Neal. However, a subsequent Sun-Sentinel article about the case reports that O’Neal’s lawyer, Benjamine Reid, called the complaint “baseless and groundless.”
