The former girlfriend of Justice Clarence Thomas says she broke up with him because he stopped his binge drinking and became “irritable, angry, short-tempered, asexual.”

In a Larry King interview on Monday, Lillian McEwen said Thomas’ “ambition became overwhelming” after he stopped drinking, and he became obsessed with “weird things,” such as long runs in the dark before dawn. CNN and the Washington Post’s Reliable Source column have the story.

McEwen came forward to say she believed Anita Hill’s allegations in a Washington Post interview published on Friday. McEwen, a former law professor and administrative law judge, admits that she has written a memoir and is seeking a publisher.

McEwen told CNN that Thomas had viewed porn in his drinking days, but she didn’t find it shocking. “I assume that many Supreme Court justices watch porn and enjoy porn,” she said. “I mean, it’s very popular on the Internet, that’s why most people use their computers, is to watch porn, especially men.”

McEwen said she views Thomas’ conservative rulings as revenge. “His enemies are people who are active in civil rights, professors who have criticized him and anybody who disagrees with the conservative friends that he has such as Rush Limbaugh,” she said.
