An attorney who had been with Irell & Manella for 17 years and formerly headed its entertainment transactions group has filed a discrimination suit against the law firm.

Among the allegations made by Juliette Youngblood in her Los Angeles Superior Court suit are that she was discriminated against for taking a three-month maternity leave and suffered retaliation when she complained to Irell management that another partner had behaved inappropriately at a happy hour event held in a law firm conference room, reports the Am Law Daily.

Youngblood, who contends she was constructively discharged, has asserted claims for breach of contract, breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing, wrongful constructive termination, retaliation and violation of the California Equal Pay Act.

The law firm declined to comment.
