Ex-Prosecutor Ditches His Monitoring Bracelet and Flees After Adverse Child-Porn Ruling
A former assistant attorney general in Maine cut off his electronic monitoring bracelet and disappeared last week after a federal appeals court upheld his conviction on seven of 13 counts for sending and receiving child pornography.
The Boston-based 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled (PDF) in the appeal by former prosecutor James Cameron on Nov. 14. According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Cameron fled hours later, report the Morning Sentinel and the Associated Press. Cameron was once the top drug prosecutor in Maine.
Before fleeing, Cameron visited his ex-wife and son, according to an application to revoke Cameron’s bail. He was last seen driving a 1999 Audi A6 with license plate number 233PL.
