Two weeks into his new job at DLA Piper, former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Thomas Daschle still has a clean desk, according to a photo published by Legal Bisnow.

However, the senior policy adviser’s strategic position right next to Frank “Rusty” Conner III, who serves as managing partner of the megafirm’s Washington, D.C., office—in addition to Daschle’s role as a member of his new firm’s global board—should put him in the forefront.

After years of Senate leadership, Daschle offers a three-step program of legislative techniques that also work well for those in charge of law firms. As Legal Bisnow puts it, they are: “(1) confront challenges by being as transparent as possible; (2) maximize inclusion; and (3) create a concise and widely accepted mission statement to support new priorities.”

He was at Alston & Bird before he joined DLA Piper.
