The litigation over a fatal accident in which a Texas judge’s daughter was convicted of intoxication manslaughter and sentenced to a brief jail term has just gotten a bit more complex.

Saying that he is still owed more than $25,000, a traffic reconstruction expert has sued defense attorney George “Mac” Secrest, who represented Elizabeth Shelton in the criminal case, reports the Houston Chronicle.

Attorney Dean Blumrosen, who is representing Secrest in the bill battle, says Pat Shelton, who is a juvenile judge in Houston, should have paid Joseph Hinton’s fee, according to the newspaper. However, Gary Polland, a lawyer who reportedly believes he will represent Shelton, if the judge is sued by Hinton, too, says the approximately $65,000 expert fee is “outrageous.”

Hinton and his lawyer, Joe Evans, didn’t respond to the Chronicle’s requests for comment.

“Blumrosen said attorney Mark Sandoval, who is representing the Sheltons in a lawsuit they have filed against the truck driver, worked out the contract between Judge Shelton and Hinton before Secrest was hired,” the newspaper writes.
