Mass tort lawyer Stanley Chesley was disbarred in Kentucky last month for his role in a diet-drug case, but he has avoided that fate in Ohio.

Chesley has retired as an Ohio lawyer, the Columbus Dispatch reports. The state supreme court website notes the “permanent” retirement and says Chesley has “no discipline or sanction history,” the story says.

Chesley was disbarred in Kentucky after he earned $20 million to help negotiate a $200 million settlement in the diet-drug litigation. The Kentucky Supreme Court said the fee was unreasonable and exceeded a $14 million fee allowed by a contingency agreement.
