A homeowner’s insurance policy purchased by the mother of Sandy Hook school shooter Adam Lanza will pay $1.5 million to settle lawsuits by the families of 14 victims and by two survivors.

The families and the two survivors will each receive about $94,000 in their suits against the estate of Lanza’s mother, Nancy Lanza, report the Hartford Courant, the Danbury News Times and the Wall Street Journal (sub. req.).

The suits had alleged Nancy Lanza kept an assault rifle that was accessible to Adam Lanza though he had a mental condition that made him a danger to others. Adam Lanza shot and killed his mother in December 2012 before taking the weapon to the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, where he killed 20 children and six educators.

Two other suits related to the shooting are still pending. One seeks damages from the distributor of the assault rifle used by Lanza on the ground that the weapon isn’t fit for civilian use. The other, filed against the town of Newton and the school board, claims safety measures at the school were inadequate.
